My name is Howard Jason Davenport, and I am a TEEMS High School Math Education student. I am also a high school Mathematics teacher at Chamblee Charter High School. I currently teach grades 9-11, and I teach Math 1, 2, and 3 (which doesn't happen very often!). As a result, I have a unique and informed perspective regarding the current Mathematics curriculum, all of the imminent changes notwithstanding.
I currently have three webpages - an old one, a new one, and a Facebook one. My employer requires that we have a website, in order to have information more available for the students and their parents. I use all of my (active) pages in order to diversify my interactions with my students, and so that I am more available for them. They are:
My main Web 2.0 focus in my classroom is undoubtedly social networking, via the class Facebook page (linked above). This is also my favorite, because the students actually use it a lot. Since most of my students have Facebook pages, I thought that having one for the class would provide added accessibility for my students, as well as a convenient way to disseminate information. I also use Facebook personally for keeping in touch with friends and family, and I have over 1000 contacts.
